About the role:

 

The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the data governance framework. This includes defining policies, procedures, and standards related to data management and ensuring that they are followed consistently across the organization. Working with various stakeholders to ensure that data is collected, stored, and used in a way that is compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Overall, the role is critical to identify and address issues related to data governance, promote a data-driven culture and lastly, ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability across all data assets.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Continuous development and implementation of the data governance framework that aligns with the organization data strategy and meets relevant legal, regulatory, and industry requirements with the Head of Data Governance.
  • Define and communicate data policies, procedures, and standards across the organization, ensuring that they are understood and followed consistently.
  • Promote a data-driven culture of data governance throughout the organization by providing training and guidance and encouraging a commitment to data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Oversee the scheduled assessment of the data management audits such as, maintaining the control environment and coordinating data quality issues with the appropriate business application owners.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the data governance framework, including tracking and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
  • Collaborate with IT and Group Security teams to ensure that data is stored and transmitted securely and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Continually assess data risks in the organization and publish any non-compliance issues and escalate to the Head of Data Governance.
  • Increase the organization’s data literacy through targeted education programs that emphasize data governance, master data management, defined roles and responsibilities, and a standardized business glossary.

  •  Coordinate and schedule data governance steering group meetings, preparing meeting packs, taking minutes, follow-ups on action items, representing the organization interests, providing expert guidance as needed.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure that they have access to the data they need in a timely and secure manner.

 

 

 

Profile requirements:

 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  •  5+ years of experience in similar Data Governance/ Management roles
  •  Experience with PDPL and similar regulations
  •  Knowledge of SDAIA and NDMO Regulations (preferable)
  •  Strong leadership, communication, project management, and analytical skills
  •  Knowledge of data-related regulations in the Middle East and Europe
  •  Prior experience in the travel industry (preferred)
  •  Fluent English, fluent Arabic (preferred)
