About the job: 

 

The Assistant Tax Manager will support the end-to-end tax function for all Egypt entities, covering VAT, corporate income tax, payroll tax, withholding tax, and transfer pricing. This role acts as a key technical focal point for Egypt, ensuring full compliance, managing tax risk, and partnering closely with the Group Tax team in KSA, finance teams, external advisors, and business stakeholders. The position will report directly to the Tax Manager and requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to drive process excellence and tax governance across the Egypt portfolio.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Tax Compliance & Filing: Manage the preparation and timely filing of all corporate income tax, VAT, payroll tax, withholding tax, and other statutory returns to ensure full compliance with Egyptian regulations.
  • Tax Accounting & Reporting: Maintain accurate tax balances on the General Ledger, calculate tax provisions, and oversee the completion of quarterly and annual tax reports and reconciliations
  • Audit & Authority Management: Act as the primary liaison with the Egyptian Tax Authority to handle queries and deadlines, while also coordinating with internal and external auditors for tax inspections and reviews.
  • Strategic Advisory & Planning: Provide proactive tax advice and planning to the business, finding solutions for complex tax issues, and participating in the development of financial and legal strategies.
  • Contract & Risk Review: Draft and review agreements to reform tax clauses, identifying potential tax exposures and ensuring all contracts align with current tax laws
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the key link between the local Finance team and the Group Tax team for day-to-day matters, ensuring alignment on corporate standards and data requirements.
  • Legislative Monitoring & Analysis: Track industry trends and changes in Egyptian tax laws to update internal policies, conducting tax analyses and internal committee checks to ensure readiness.
  • Vendor & Database Management: Coordinate with outsourced tax preparation providers and maintain a comprehensive company tax database to organize all provisions, payments, and historical records.
  • Contract & Clause Management: Actively draft agreements and reform tax clauses in business contracts to identify potential tax exposure and ensure the company is protected against fiscal risks.

 

Profile requirements:

 

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Finance & Tax roles with specific expertise in tax compliance and regulatory reporting.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep technical knowledge of Egyptian Tax Laws is mandatory (including VAT, Corporate Income Tax, Payroll Tax, Transfer Pricing rules, and Withholding Tax).
  • Documentation Skills: Proven ability in drafting legal/tax clauses and preparing detailed tax paperwork and presentations for authorities.
  • Accounting & Systems: Strong knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures and excellent MS Excel proficiency are a must for analyzing data and managing ledgers. (SAP is plus )
  • Communication: Fluent English is required for reporting to the Group level and negotiating with external auditors or stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and numeracy skills, with the ability to operate independently to drive outcomes and solve complex technical tax problems.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation skills and a team-player mindset, capable of supporting internal and external auditors effectively.
